Muay Thai Kickboxing, also known as Thai Boxing, Muay Thai, or simply Kickboxing, is the national sport of Thailand. It’s also well known as being one of the best sports for physical conditioning. And that’s why Muay Thai Kickboxing (MTKB) is the core of our program—It’s a great way to get in shape while learning fundamental offensive and self-defense skills. Students learn an array of striking techniques—including kicking, punching, elbow and knee strikes—as well as defense and clinching. Our classes also emphasize cardiovascular conditioning, timing, and body mechanics Our MTKB program will challenge your strength and endurance, helping you to build strong, lean muscle. (You can burn 500-800 calories in a single one-hour Kickboxing workout.) |

Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses primarily on unarmed combat. While jiu-jitsu originated in Japan, most of us are more familiar with sport-oriented versions of this style, such as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (or Judo). At Leading Edge, we’ve blended the similarities and differences of these two styles to offer a more broad style of jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu is a phenomenal way to get in shape. It will help you build strength and speed while learning what to do (and what not to do) when “going to the ground.” Our curriculum includes take-downs, submission holds, and striking from the ground—providing a well-rounded array of submission- and ground-fighting techniques. Of course, it’s safe to say that nearly all fights start on the feet—that’s why our program also teaches students how to flow from grappling, to striking, and back to submission fighting. |

Created specifically for ages 4-12, our Full Circle program surrounds children with positive role models and accurate information in order to provide building blocks for a successful life—all of this is done in a safe, fun, and motivating way. The children’s program focuses on three main areas: Martial Arts/Self-Defense Our Martial Arts curriculum is designed to address the needs and abilities of older children, teaching them a variety of techniques, including: grappling, punching, and kicking. Our goal is to encourage them to work through challenges and help them take their skills to the next level. Fitness Through exercise, games, and positive reinforcement, we teach children about health and fitness, helping them learn to discipline themselves in order to continue these positive habits throughout their lives. Abduction Prevention Completion of our Full Circle Program will help your child become focused and motivated to achieve any goal they set in life. They will become better students at school, better listeners at home, and more ambitious toward the future. |

We developed our Jeet Kune Do (JKD) program to create an effective self-defense system based on an ideal blend of martial arts styles and concepts— Kali Weaponry, Silat, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Grappling, and Wing Chun. By incorporating the essence of each of these core martial arts, an individual is more flexible and able to deal with a wider range of self-defense situations. We have found that studying different arts simultaneously is a great way to develop, as each art seems to help the assimilation of the others. In time, and after developing competency in each area, students will naturally gravitate towards a specialty that fits their body type, training time, personality, life experience, etc. Drills and techniques are taught in a fluid, non-restrictive manner, allowing students to enhance their natural attributes and improve their sense of timing, speed, awareness, balance, agility, and confidence. Training in both left- and right-handed techniques helps develop coordination and flexibility needed to adapt more easily to any situation. By emphasizing the “ranges of combat,” students are taught to flow confidently and with ease from long-distance (kicking range) to middle-distance (hand range) to close-quarter (trapping & grappling range). Designed for use in “mass attack” situations, as well as single-opponent confrontations, JKD training heightens students’ awareness of their surroundings, teaching them to use their environment as tools of combat. (Everyday objects, such as umbrellas, books, bandannas, etc., can become effective instruments of self-defense in the hands of a properly trained individual.) JKD affords the practitioner a quick and efficient means by which to effectively pursue the most direct lines and angles of attack. And once an attack has been launched, there are no breaks or interruptions. As one technique nears completion, it starts to blend into the next and so forth—creating one continuous, flowing motion until the conflict is resolved. |
