Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses primarily on unarmed combat. While jiu-jitsu originated in Japan, most of us are more familiar with sport-oriented versions of this style, such as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (or Judo). At Leading Edge, we’ve blended the similarities and differences of these two styles to offer a more broad style of jiu-jitsu.
Jiu-jitsu is a phenomenal way to get in shape. It will help you build strength and speed while learning what to do (and what not to do) when “going to the ground.”
Our curriculum includes take-downs, submission holds, and striking from the ground—providing a well-rounded array of submission- and ground-fighting techniques.
Of course, it’s safe to say that nearly all fights start on the feet—that’s why our program also teaches students how to flow from grappling, to striking, and back to submission fighting.
