How do I get started? When you come in, we’ll show you around, and answer whatever questions you’ve got. Once you’re ready to give it a try, you’ll just need to fill out our waiver, and then you can jump right in. All you need are workout clothes, though you’ll most certainly want a bottle of water, to stay hydrated. Once you’ve experienced your first class, you’ll have a great idea of what you can get from working out at LEK. That’s when we want you to ask even more questions—let us know what you thought and how you liked the class. And if you’re interested in becoming a member with us, that’s the best time to do it. We offer New Enrollment Specials to all new members—but they’re only available on your first day. There’s no pressure, but you’ll want to come prepared with a your bank information or credit/debit card, just to be sure you can take advantage of these special offers. What should I wear? Kickboxing: Workout clothes are great. We recommend sweats or training pants instead of shorts. (Shorts can inadvertently reveal more than you may like when kicking.) Jujutsu: Members must wear workout pants and a t-shirt. Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, and shorts are not allowed. Men must wear a protective cup. Jeet Kune Do: Workout clothes are ideal, but street clothes are fine too. Children/Full Circle: Workout clothes. No shorts, please. We don’t allow street shoes on our mats, for health reasons. But, we do encourage wearing martial arts shoes or clean crosstraining shoes. (If you wear them outside, just give ‘em a good wipe-down before your workout.) Do I need to bring a training partner? Do I have to wear a uniform or other special gear? Gear-wise, we’ve got a collection of equipment on-hand for new students to borrow—so you can get started right away. After 60 days of membership, we ask that our students supply their own basic equipment (so our spare equipment is always available for new students). Do I need to get in shape so I can enjoy the class? And, you’ll quickly discover that the workout you get at LEK will help you get in better shape—Just get in here, and get started. Fitness is different for everyone. So we allow people to work as hard as they want to. Are the classes suitable for beginners? Are my children too young? Am I too old? What if I don’t want to “Take a Punch”?
